Alex Andy Phuong

The Mentor Reviewer

Alex is a writer from California whose words explore literature, film, and culture. A former editor at Statement Magazine, his work has appeared in The Bookends Review and The Society of Classical Poets. His poetry collection An Altruistic(2020) reflects his belief in kindness and creativity as forces for change.

Why he keeps the flame:

Emma Stone once said that “fools who dream are the ones who make magic”. I write with that hope—that my words might inspire others to dream boldly and live fully.

Daryl Jane Bukelo

Content Curator & Outreach Evangelist

Daryl is a writer from UAE, with a passion for philosophy, debate and poetry. Her story book The Adventures of Suzy and Lily reflects her belief in handling challenging situations. She believe writing is the most effective method in portraying the harrowing issues in society or in oneself.

Why she keeps the flame:

Art is the expression of neuroticism, and the essence of humanity is the art it creates. She is motivated with the power of words for changing somebody’s mind or heart.

Caitlin Santiago Lobo

The Marketing Maverick

Caitlyn is a published author from UAE. Currently studying in grade 10 at Al Diyafah High School, Dubai, she writes regularly for her school’s weekly BUZZ and recently published her short story “A Star is Born” . This half Filipino, half Indian author has a strong passion for stories and is a student of literature.

Why she keeps the flame:

I believe that there is hope in a world filled with harsh things, and I believe everyone, especially the youngsters, can make that peace happen by inspiring themselves and others. 

Kalyani Unnikrishnan

Student Ambassador, Finland

This 15 year old passionate dancer from Grade 10 at Mattlidens Gymnasium IB world school,
Espoo, Finland is a strong believer in peace. She loves connecting with people and learning
their perspectives on peace and justice.

Why she keeps the flame:

She strongly believes in amplifying voices for peace, and building relations that spread
creativity, hope and harmony.

Saachi Dham

The Erudite Editor

Saachi, a grade 10 student at GEMS modern academy Dubai describes herself as – The truth is I don’t know who I am as a person yet but more than that who we are is not a static thing, it’s something that changes gradually and over time at our discretion and that’s why I continue to wake up every day and slowly piece together the puzzle that is I with things that make me ‘Saachi’.

Why she keeps the flame:

Poetry is such a beautiful concept. I want to be part of this to inspire others to write, help people cope, and make poetry something everyone can connect with just like how it’s become a safe space for me.

Vedant Aryan

Outreach Coordinator, UAE

Vedant, a grade 10 student at GEMS modern academy, Dubai love working with people and care deeply about creating genuine connections. While always ready to lend a shoulder to anyone in need, he believes that his skill of rallying people together towards a cause that he believes in.

Why he keeps the flame:

He like working on things which are ‘important’ and he believes in the vision of ‘PoetsandPeace’. He says, “Its simple and Its crucial – I hope to bring purpose and joy into every collaboration, and I want our work to feel meaningful together”
